Environment

Investigation of environmental samples provides information on the nature and extent of pollution and helps to identify contamination sources. Comprehensive monitoring and detailed knowledge regarding distribution and fate of environmental pollutants are essential in order to develop effective remedial actions. A fast and accurate analysis of contaminated samples restricts pollution and protects public health.

However, environmental analysis is often a sophisticated task caused by varying sample matrices, a multitude of different contaminants and low concentration levels ranging from ppm to ppt. GC systems equipped with specific detectors and inlet systems are applicable tools to determine organic pollutants in environmental samples, like contaminated soil and sludge, sediments, wastewater, drinking water or atmospheric particles. A best possible analytical solution requires an optimized system configuration.

In addition to the common GC/MS, GC/FID or GC/TCD systems, special instrument configurations might be necessary depending on target analytes and concentration levels.
